General

What is Ancurio?

Ancurio is a flashcard and spaced repetition app for iOS and macOS. It helps you memorize anything — vocabulary, facts, concepts — more effectively by showing you cards at scientifically optimized intervals.

What is spaced repetition?

Spaced repetition is a learning technique that schedules card reviews at increasing time intervals based on how well you remember each card. Cards you know well are shown less frequently; cards you struggle with are shown more often. This maximizes retention while minimizing study time.

Is Ancurio free to use?

Ancurio is free to download with access to core features. A premium subscription unlocks advanced features such as unlimited decks, enhanced statistics, and more.

Which devices are supported?

Ancurio is available for iPhone and iPad running iOS 16 or later, and Mac running macOS 13 or later with Apple Silicon or Intel processors.

Decks & Flashcards

How do I create a flashcard deck?

Tap the "+" button on the home screen to create a new deck. Give it a name and start adding cards with a front (question) and back (answer).

Can I import flashcards from a file?

Yes. Ancurio supports importing flashcards from CSV and TXT files. Go to the deck you want to import into, tap the import option, and select your file. Each row in the CSV should represent one card (e.g., front, back).

Can I add images to my flashcards?

Yes, Ancurio supports image-based flashcards. You can add images from your photo library to either side of a card.

How many decks and cards can I create?

Free users can create a limited number of decks. With a premium subscription, you can create unlimited decks and cards.

Can I delete or edit a card after creating it?

Yes. Tap on any card within a deck to edit or delete it at any time.

Studying

How does the study session work?

When you start a study session, Ancurio presents cards based on the spaced repetition algorithm. After viewing the answer, you rate your recall (e.g., Easy, Good, Hard, Again). The app schedules the next review based on your rating.

What happens if I miss a study session?

If you miss a session, due cards will accumulate. The app will show you the overdue cards in your next session. It is best to study consistently for optimal results.

Can I study all cards regardless of schedule?

Yes. You can browse and review all cards in a deck at any time using the "Browse" or "Review All" mode, independent of the spaced repetition schedule.

iCloud Sync

Does Ancurio sync across my devices?

Yes. If you enable iCloud Sync in the App settings, your decks, cards, and study progress are automatically synced across all your Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID.

Is my data backed up?

When iCloud Sync is enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account and backed up automatically. If you delete the App, your data remains in iCloud and can be restored when you reinstall.

My sync is not working. What should I do?

Make sure iCloud is enabled for Ancurio in your device Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Apps Using iCloud. Also ensure you have sufficient iCloud storage. If the issue persists, try toggling iCloud Sync off and on in the App settings or restart your device.

Subscriptions

What does a premium subscription include?

Premium features include unlimited decks, advanced study statistics, additional card types, and priority support. Full details are listed on the subscription screen within the App.

How do I subscribe?

Open the App and navigate to the subscription screen. Select your preferred plan (monthly or annual) and confirm your purchase through Apple's App Store.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time via Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone or Mac. Your premium access will continue until the end of the current billing period.

Will I lose my data if I cancel?

No. Your decks and cards will remain intact. You will lose access to premium features, but your data is not deleted.

Do you offer a free trial?

A free trial may be available for new subscribers. Check the subscription screen in the App for current offers.

Technical & Support

The app crashed. What should I do?

Please restart the App and try again. If the issue persists, contact us at contact@ancurio.net with a description of what happened and your device model and iOS version. We will do our best to resolve it quickly.

My cards or decks disappeared. What should I do?

If you use iCloud Sync, wait a few minutes for sync to complete and restart the App. If the issue persists, contact our support team and we will investigate.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your flashcard data is stored locally on your device and (if enabled) in your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your data. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.
